Dems may have been right afterall

Harry Reid’s reluctance to allow Roland Burris to take his seat as the junior Senator of Illinois may have been well placed.  New information puts Burris in a tough place – being asked to give a donation by the Governor in addition to perhaps perjuring himself.

So, are the Dems sweating their choice?  Maybe not…

The truth is that Burris is not the Dems’ choice for the 2010 campaign.  In fact, they believe that he was weak in advance of the latest news cycle conundrum.  So, Dems now have a reason to endorse and campaign for a stronger primary candidate that can be more formidable in the general.

Bottomline – the new information on Burris may help the GOP cause in the short-term, but may help out the Dems by aligning against a weak link.
